PROUD MISTLETOE

Christmas is a time for loved ones, no matter who you love. But that’s just not the case for LGBTQ+ couples. Homophobic hate crimes are up 40% in the UK and many couples are still afraid to kiss in public.

For Stonewall’s first ever Christmas campaign, we gave the mistletoe a rainbow-coloured makeover and hung them in places where the attacks happened. Then invited LGBTQ+ couples to kiss underneath them, as a way to reclaim their spaces and fight hate with love.

The film was supported by a digital version of the #ProudMistletoe for Instagram, Digital OOH, and a social contest that gave away hundreds of them. Come next year, the Proud Mistletoe will be available every Christmas.
