Drunk driving kills over 2400 Canadians per year, so we set out to stop it in its tracks.

We designed and custom-built curbside Breathalyzers embedded with a MQ3 alcohol sensor, an Android tablet connected to Uber’s API, and disposable straws.

When a drinker blows into the Breathalyzer, it begins to calculate their blood alcohol content. If they are over the legal driving limit, an Uber driver is automatically hailed and arrives to that location within minutes.

The initiative became an overnight sensation and you can now find the Breathalyzers in the US, India, Brazil, Denmark, Portugal, Germany, and even a counterfeit version in China. That’s when you know you’ve made it.
